Brett Robinson founded Onset Investigation with the vision of assisting law enforcement globally after he uncovered evidence in over 70 cases involving wanted criminals and missing persons across Canada. He has helped close 35 cases over six years. As one of Canada’s most experienced private investigators, he regularly meets with detectives to assist with case development and has given presentations at conferences on the topics of missing persons and unsolved homicide private investigations. He holds an MA in Profiling and Analysis from Lesley University and an MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. In addition to his investigative work, Brett is a Registered Psychotherapist at a sexual assault clinic in Brampton, Ontario, where he supports individuals affected by violence and abuse.
Dr. Michael Arntfield is a police detective-turned university professor and homicide scholar at Western University, where he also founded the Cold Case Society—a think tank that pairs students with historical homicides and missing persons cases to crowdsource and use AI to develop new leads. He is also a Director with the Murder Accountability Project in Washington, DC, a not-for-profit NGO which similarly uses AI algorithms to detect serial killer patterns in large homicide data sets. The author of a soon-to-be 14 books on criminal investigation and forensics, he has also appeared as host and/or expert on violent crime in over 35 collective seasons of true crime and documentary television and streaming series. He is also a Fulbright Scholar as designated by the US State Department and a well-known TED speaker.

Regarded as one of the premier forensic archival researchers in Canada, Kostas Karathanos has spent the past four years assisting cold case squads around the country with their case development. He specializes in using archival materials to expand their knowledge on homicide suspects, helping them locate copies of missing cold case files at provincial repositories, and providing them with general research services, typically resulting in air, water, and ground searches for missing persons. He holds an Honours BA in History and previously served as the Senior Associate Researcher and Archivist at a charity focused on locating missing persons.
The members of our Investigation Team are unable to share their identities due to the sensitive nature of their cases. They come from backgrounds in law enforcement, fraud prevention, open-source intelligence, and academia. They are specialists in locating missing persons and wanted criminals, liaising with international police, and facilitating extradition requests.
